I feel like this should be common sense

but if you bought the “Wave 1” Frankie on Amazon and received Wave 2 Frankie, please email amazon, they should be able to either work out an exchange or maybe refund you. It was their bad, not yours.

I never said the tag wasn't for porn. I asked those that were posting rape porn to be mindful of the potential audience and put it under a cut. And really, I don't think my initial post was the problem so much as the way everyone chose to respond- instead of intelligent debate and discussion, we got intentionally triggering images, ridiculous comparisons, and lots of "stfu and gtfo, you're too old/young/immature/prudish/etc to be here."

And to be clear, my post wasn’t directed at any post in particular. I’m honestly not keeping up on the who’s who of the debate.

I completely agree that having Mature material under a cut would be awesome. It’d be polite and personally I don’t really want to download tumblr savior. I’m not even sure if I can, honestly.

Generally, at least from what I can see, the problem starts as soon as other tumblrs start complaining about a ‘trigger post’. It seems like the initial post is always pretty minor, and then suddenly everyone’s talking about the same one post as if it’s an epidemic.

I hate when I see shit like this. I mean really? REALLY?How is a doll with no slated release date other than next year ‘Pre-Sold Out Everywhere’? If that was true, How are you random ebay scalper taking pre-orders?And don’t get me started on the people that fall for this shit.Nothing is ‘PRE-SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE’. The only retailer that EVER takes pre-orders for MH dolls is Toys R Us.Gawd Damn people, stop feeding into this madness.

*whispers* The issue wasn't really about the porn - it was about the rape

Yes, I know that. But porn and rape and race are all things that have been brought up before and people are being rude on both sides of the issue.

I’m not asking people to calm down about the issue, I’m asking them to calm down in their responses, type legibly, and think about what they’re posting before they hit send.

Edit: Also, I only mentioned porn once, as an example. I’m talking about arguments past and present that keep getting out of hand.

I’ve been trying to stay out of this

but I’m going to comment because I’m just so frustrated.

Good things to do:

1. Discuss issues like sexuality/race/any other issue that comes up in the tag.

2. Intelligently comment on things going on in the tag.

Things that clog the tag:

1. “Drama in the tags again blah blah” Yes, we noticed, you don’t need to point it out to us. OR sometimes there is no drama, and these are the posts that start it.

2. “The tag isn’t for hate/porn/_______!” Actually, if it has something to do with MH or the fandom, it can go in the tag whether you agree with it or not. Tags are just that: they are what is included in the post.

3. It’s hypocritical to talk about how photos/doll info/websode stuff is the only thing that can be included in the tags if your post does not include the things you’re saying are all that belongs in the tag.

In short: Calm down. I’m not going to make a comment on what is specifically happening right now (because it’s getting so nuts I can’t even follow it) but I will say that people, to an extent, are overreacting. There’s a lot of adults in the tag, and you’re all acting like children.

DISCUSS. One sentence complaints aren’t doing anything productive.

Thank you!

Seller Protip #1…

freakyjustg0tfab:

if its out of the box, you should NOT be charging more than what you originally paid nor should you charge what you paid. It should always be less because it’s technically USED. Excellent condition or not, it is still considered used. Used sells for less.

While I don’t believe this technically counts for hard to find dolls, I wholeheartedly agree.  And even a hard to find doll will probably be worth less out of box than NIB.

Mattel’s new torso sets and fanmail

Haw about a big round of applause, am I right?

Now, this is certainly something I NEVER thought was going to happen, so I’m insanely impressed that Mattel listened to their fans.

I highly encourage you all to contact mattel and thank them for such an act! Seriously, we do enough complaining around here, and they should know when they’ve done something ‘right’.

I know this is old news, I apologize. I didn’t think of mentioning this until just now.

Stands, they are the bane of our existence. 3: Broken Clip

monsterhighmash:

If you’re looking for parts 1 and 2 here they are

I’ve had a few people message me asking for help with this issue, but this is the first time I’ve experienced it myself. Anyway, if the prongs to your stand break, it sucks. I suggest emailing mattel about it and trying to get another stand out of the deal, but you can still fix your stand!

You need a pin vise, which I’ve mentioned in the broken joint tutorial It’s just a small hand-drill that you can get in any hobby shop. They come with a multitude of drill bits so pick one with the best size. I’m using the equivalent to a 20 Gauge wire. Drill a hole into the clip itself

And also into the broken peg.

Then, glue wire into that hole, so you have a thin peg jutting out to attach to the prong.

Glue the wire into the prong as well and then glue the plastic together.

Ta-da!

After the glue sets, You’ll have a, once-again, functioning stand.

Scarah and Collectors edition dolls.

I hear that there were 5000 Dolls marketed.

I understand that she is a collector’s item and her price will be high.

But at $100 any ebay seller or trader is making a 75% profit on a doll that they may have only bought in order to re-sell!

The thing that irks me is that a lot of ebay sellers seem to have this going on. Go to the con, snatch up a ton of dolls before the collectors can, and then re-sell them at a mark-up.

I probably wouldn’t mind as much if I was buying from another collector and could say, “hey, yeah, I’ll give you some extra money for your trouble, sure, $70 sounds reasonable”

But instead you have to battle your way through ebay where there’s biting and who knows what else going on. It’s a feeding frenzy. It’s like Black Friday-internet edition.

And then there’s Matty Collector, who sells out after, what, five minuets? After the site goes down when I already had the dolls in-cart? In cart, site goes down, SOLD!

Like I said, I know she’s going to be more valuable because there are less of her, but jimminy cricket this whole situation is giving me a headache.

Mattel doesn’t seem to care who gets the dolls as they’re really making no attempt to get items out to their fans, even AT THE CON. Really, mattel, letting other booths sell your item, when you are right there to do something about it? That’s, in my opinion, kinda unprofessional. If I was, I don’t know, at artist Alley at a con, and someone bought something from me, only to go and sell if at their table, I’d make a stink about it. Why? Well, partially because that’s a copyright issue, but also because I’d prefer to see my hard work make someone happy, and not because of money, but because they love what I made.
